After a year-long break, Dominica and the British Virgin Islands return to action in the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign. Both teams have struggled significantly in attack, and neither is expected to control possession on Wednesday.
Last autumn, Dominica managed to apply pressure on stronger opponents in the CONCACAF Nations League only in brief spells. The team finished second from bottom in a group alongside the Dominican Republic, Bermuda and Antigua and Barbuda, conceding 18 goals in six matches. However, the squad appeared to learn some lessons from those games — back-to-back goalless draws in May friendlies against Barbados demonstrated that Dominica are capable of sitting deep and defending compactly against sides of similar calibre.
In contrast, the British Virgin Islands failed to earn a single point during their CONCACAF Nations League group stage campaign, scoring just once across four games. A year ago, the team posed little threat in World Cup qualifiers against Guatemala (0:3) and the Dominican Republic (0:4), and they now sit bottom of Group E.
Heading into the fixture in Roseau, the British Virgin Islands have not won a competitive away match since 2008. Dominica earned a 2:1 win when the two sides met in autumn 2023, but the current squad lacks the quality to dominate proceedings — we expect a low-scoring contest and advise backing Total Under 2.5.
